A dry freight truck body is designed to protect cargo from weather, theft, and road debris. It is the preferred solution for retail goods, furniture, appliances, parcel deliveries, and other products that benefit from enclosed transportation.
A platform body is more appropriate when unrestricted loading access is more important than enclosure. Long materials, oversized equipment, machinery, bundled lumber, steel, pallets, and construction supplies can often be loaded much more efficiently from the side or above than through rear cargo doors.
Businesses that frequently use forklifts or cranes typically benefit from platform bodies because they eliminate many of the loading limitations associated with enclosed truck bodies.
If cargo requires weather protection, security, or temperature control, an enclosed truck body remains the better choice.
