Regular maintenance helps maximize the performance, safety, and service life of a truck body. While maintenance schedules vary depending on operating conditions, routine inspections should include the body structure, doors, roof, flooring, cargo restraint systems, seals, lighting, fasteners, and mounted accessories.
Door hinges, rollers, latches, and locking mechanisms should be lubricated and inspected for wear. Weather seals should be checked for damage that could allow water intrusion. Flooring should be examined for excessive wear, loose fasteners, or localized damage caused by forklifts or heavy cargo. Roof seams and body joints should also be inspected periodically for signs of leaks or impact damage.
Operators should clean the body regularly, particularly after transporting corrosive materials or operating in areas where road salt is common. Any dents, punctures, or structural damage should be evaluated promptly before they develop into larger problems.
